"Local Elections are supposed to be conducted in all the Administrative Units of Ukraine according to the Constitution and New Election Legislation", Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared.
According to the Deputy Chairman today´s voting for the relevant decision means that the Verkhovna Rada based on the approach that was suggested after the date of the local elections on 30 May 2010 was rejected.
Mykola Tomenko explained that the next date of the elections conductions that harmonizes with the legislation, may be 27 March 2011. "Today´s voting in the Parliament means that if the process of amendments introduction to the Constitution of Ukraine is completed, next elections to all the local self-government bodies will be conducted on 27 March 2011 and it concerns the local self-government bodies that were elected in the course of early elections", - M. Tomenko declared. According to him the present approach envisages that all the elections would be conducted simultaneously.
M. Tomenko is convinced that introduction of the amendments to the Constitution liquidates the possibility of certain local self-government bodies that were elected during the early elections terminate new election.
